Conversion tables for grains not regulated under the Canada Grain Act

Canary seed, hemp seed and solin are not regulated under the Canada Grain Act. To support marketing of these seeds, the Canadian Grain Commission developed conversion tables.

Procedures to estimate moisture content of other crops

Use these procedures to estimate the moisture content for which there are no model 919/3.5 or equivalent moisture meter conversion tables.

Estimating moisture content, includes crop and procedure
Crop Procedure
Beans, Dutch Brown Use the Canadian Grain Commission Pea Beans (PDF, 22 kb) conversion table number 2 and subtract 1.1% moisture from the chart result.
Beans, Kintoki Use the Canadian Grain Commission Beans, Dark Red Kidney (PDF, 282 kb) conversion table number 2 and read the results directly.
Beans, Pink Use the Canadian Grain Commission Pea Beans (PDF, 22 kb) conversion table number 2 and subtract 1.1% moisture from the chart result.
Beans, Yellow Use the Canadian Grain Commission Beans, Light Red Kidney (PDF, 24 kb) conversion table number 1 and read the results directly.
Mixed Grain Use the conversion table and the tough and damp limits of the predominant grain.
Note: For beans, the ‘damp’ moisture range is over 18%.
