The sample is placed into the upper funnel and released by pulling out the slide. Gravity ensures the sample is evenly dispersed over a center cone and falls into 16 pockets. The grain remains separated and falls into two different collection containers. The Labtronics sample divider is calibrated to provide accurate splits of +/- 0.5 % on a 1000 gram sample of Hard Red Spring Wheat.
